DESTINED FOR GREATNESS

Destined For Greatness is a project with the overall purpose of creating a pipeline of education, relationships, and resources to help break the cycle of poverty, incarceration, and high school dropout for black transitional-aged youth in San Francisco, and lead them on a path towards their greatness. The Project is designed to arm participants with the skills, resources, and support system needed to propel them beyond society's limitations which are false and imposed.

Activities

DFG has been designed based on the unique strengths, needs, and opportunities of transitional-aged youth 16 to 24 years old. The program consists of five modules, with 3 to 7 sessions a module, 3 hours a session.

Each module incorporates auditory, visual, and kinesthetic, learning styles with an emphasis on experiential learning to give youth the opportunity to practice and internalize the new skills and materials learned during each session.  Modules provide wrap-around service which focuses on an empowerment mantra “We are not our circumstances!” Each session builds upon the next developing essential life skills to promote independence, health, wellness, and emotional intelligence to secure gainful employment.

At the end of the program, youth walk away with $1,200, a laptop computer, resume, bank account, and financial literacy, interview clothing, and skills needed to continue on their path of greatness.
